Theme Evals – Marty's WordPress on Azure

Found a good wide picture — try the black and white pic of the antique. REALLY need to shrink this down for slider, header image, etc.
Metaslider works well, but need to continue to work with it (center, smaller, etc.) on the home page.

Appointment — (9/16) No! Stretches out the Paypal logo, header shows author of theme, but not ROX1 header.
Appointment Red — (9/16) Same as Appointment, no go.
Arke — (9/16) no, very narrow, Officers layout no good.
Ashe — (9/16) Really like the way the antique shows up, but slightly smaller font for title and wish it only showed on home page, setting somewhere?
Avant — (9/11) Excellent format! Lots of options for text, header, slide show, etc. Probably the favorite
(9/12) update: the more I work with Avant, the more I like it!
Avenue — (9/16) No good, can’t see all menus, layout not workable.
Bakes and Cakes — (9/16), can’t use , not workable
Basics — (9/16) Looks nice, but even with full width, isn’t wide enough.
Bento — OK, possible needs a full page picture to work best. Menu is two lines, officers table looks mostly good, decent width for page. Didn’t realize this: heading doesn’t show title or byline, try to find option to show this.
Benzer — Don’t like, scrolling is weird, first letter of title is reverse image, menu selected is reverse image and boxed. Don’t even know why I’m continuing to even try this one.
Black Jane — Decent layout (has potential), links are not underlined though (change setting somewhere?) DEFINITELY can’t find a way to get links underlined or different color, needs some tweaking…
Blaize — Don’t like…
Blossom Chic — (9/12) Second choice to Avant, has excellent potential, a little thick on height, definitely need to update the pic of the antique
Blossom Feminine — (9/12) almost identical to Blossom Chic, except for certain colors, may as well stick with Blossom Chic.
Builder Lite — (9/12) looks decent, but no underlining of links and can’t change hover color.
Business Field — (9/12) not bad, but seems kind of plain, too. Text characters good, lots of white background.
Business Responsiveness — (9/10) Nice layout, will depend on picture selected (panoramic), must add posts and login widgets. Keep coming back to this one, just need to figure out officers, text size, remove right-side widgets?
Bulk — (9/12) Nope!!
Cargoex — (9/12) not bad, but can do better with other themes.
Catch box — (9/12) overall looks nice, but VERY narrow, can’t find setting to change width, can’t use this.
Cenote — (9/12) like Cargoex, not bad, but c an do better with other themes.
City Logic — has potential, website links not as well highlighted, definitely need smaller/modified version pic of antique
Consulting — (9/12) totally switched around menu items, light grey text, don’t use.
Corporate One — (9/12) not bad, easy on the eyes, a little plain but overall good (links highlight well, officers table shows up well).
Customify — (9/12) Heading kind of busy (places entire tagline in upper left, menu spread over two lines).
Cyanotype — (9/12) no way!!!!!
Deep Business — Excellent potential, need to tweak the widgets, nice blue color for heading, etc.
Ef Practical — (9/19) Nice layout and fonts, nice header picture (obviously need to change), but need only on Home page, maybe can change this? Was able to change a lot, keep experimenting!!! Comparable to Avant!
Frontier — current wordpress theme, OK, needs tweaking
Greed — isn’t displaying my home page correctly, all others OK, huge menu header, not handling officer’s table well!!
GTL Multipurpose — (9/19) Might be worth a second look, need to determine if page widths, font styles, etc. can be changed the way I want (some options, but may not have all of them).
Healthcare — Don’t like, selecting a menu item disappears (white on white?), sidebar wide, so main text gets narrow, doesn’t show officer’s table well.
Hemingway — Very nice for my personal webpage, not sure about Fire Department’s page, though
Heropress — (9/19) Decent layout, but needs too many changes, similar to Avant anyway.
Hestia — (9/19) too much in the header, would have to modify too much to work, better themes available)
Kaka — Don’t like, weird header, wide sidebar, doesn’t show officer’s table well.
Monster Business — Don’t like, pages stretched out vertically, nice font, can’t see main content without scrolling (large menu and header picture space).
North Shore — Very flexible, must pick the right picture, though.
Oswald — not bad, except menu lists vertically along the right side (weird)
Shop Isle — didn’t work well with the Model-T pictures, looks nice but overall not good for FH
Specia — Similar to Monster, weird header (first letter of header reverse image), doesn’t display officer table well.
SuevaFree — Like it, links aren’t underlined but mouse over highlights them. Header uses a nice script, very similar to another theme (Black Jane?), History and Officer’s table shows up well.
Surya Chandra Lite — very similar to Deep Business theme, Heading and menu is “thick” going from top to bottom, needs a little tweaking.
Swing Lite — Don’t like. Decent looking, but also “thick” for the menus and header area.
Twenty Eleven — Don’t like. Nice looking, but not practical. Not too thick header, but officer’s table looks horrible.
Twenty Fifteen — No! Menu along left side, officer’s table doesn’t look good.
Twenty Fourteen — VERY NICE, except body is very narrow. Try to figure out how to make wide. Nice black header green font in body. Officer’s table doesn’t look good at all. After removing side widget, the page narrows, can’t figure out how to widen.
Twenty Seventeen – Nice, original one I tried, may need to tweak. A little “thick” and tall for headers. Also try to figure out how to widen main body.
Twenty Sixteen — Maybe, need to figure out pictures. Overall width OK, but officer’s table a little narrow.
Twenty Ten — No, design is simple and nice, need a nice panoramic photo for header, figured out how to widen Officer’s table (drag handles), can get rid of side bar, but must do each individual page for some reason.
